It is a zingy combination of sweet fragrant orange blended with juicy tropical pineapple, nutty carrot, earthy goji berries and zingy baobab superfruit powder.

Why is baobab a superfruit? Baobab is rich in vitamin C, fibre & antioxidants, minerals and the B vitamins; nutrients that boost your energy levels, support the immune system and reduce tiredness. It may also help in blood sugar regulation and so a good choice for to protect against insulin insensitivity.

To bump up the nutritional profile, I have included hemp seeds or chia seeds in the recipe. Both are rich sources of plant-based protein, fibre and healthy heart polyunsaturated fats (omega -3 and 6), which support healthy immune, brain function and are anti-inflammatory, help balance hormone levels and decrease cholesterol levels.

Why goji berries? Goji berries are also super-rich in antioxidants, (especially carotenoids and vitamin C) and in special sugars that protect the body against disease including cancer. They are believed to help balance blood sugar, help in liver detoxification, and improve digestion and mood.

As with many of my recipes, I also love to add protein powder. I use pea or soy varieties.
